Known for her spirit singing through a rich and expressive sound, Jennifer Keeney is a unique musician who has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. After being named a Flutist of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach Florida, under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas, Jennifer was appointed as Acting Principal Flutist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic, and is currently a member of The River Oaks Chamber Orchestra.

She has performed as an orchestral Flutist for 20 years, as well as a chamber musician, recitalist and as a member of various eclectic groups. Her passion for music is not limited to one genre, but explores the expression of sound in its endless beautiful forms. She has recorded with orchestras on the Argo Decca label, with Anita Kruse on Purple Records and on other labels with various other artists. Her first solo flute recordings Spirit Spirals and second solo recording , Gateway to the Soul ~ the sound journals, are both available at I Tunes, The Faerie Journals or CD Baby and at your local music stores.

Jennifer lends her impressive talents to a wide variety of educational institutions. She is currently contracted to give Master classes by the High School for the Visual and Performing Arts in Houston Texas, Spring Branch and HISD School Systems. She has been on the faculty of summer programs such as Interlochen Fine Arts Academy, University of Michigan, University of Houston and Bowling Green University. She has performed at many summer music festivals, Pacific Music Festival in Japan, Interlochen Music Festival, and the Colorado Music Festival. Her book, The Creative Flutist, reflects her dynamic energy, creativity and inspirational teaching approach, encouraging her students to develop and refine their beauty, patience, discipline, freedom and artistry.

An alumnas of the University of Michigan and the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University, she has also studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in England, the University of Southern California and Harvard University. She is forever grateful to her world renowned flute teachers, Julius Baker, Jeanne Baxstresser, Judith Bentley, Leone Buyse, Walfrid Kujala, Jim Walker and Trevor Wye.

After many years of friendship and a deep musical connection, Jennifer and Anita Kruse, pianist, singer and songwriter, formed their duo, Tall Girls, performing a wide range of musical styles from the classical flute and piano repertoire to original songs. They continue their musical sharing in Trio Angelico with dear friend, Mezzo Soprano, Sonja Bruzauskas. The Trio is very involved with the Texas Children Hospital, The Purple Songs Can Fly Project.

Ms. Keeney resides in Houston, Texas where she is a freelance and studio musician, an artist on the roster of Young Audiences of Houston, member of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra and a teacher for her wonderful students in private and group lessons.

Jennifer enjoys listening to and playing all kinds of music, reading, writing, poetry, pilates, aikido, yoga, running, biking, and her diverse spiritual life. Her parents are retired teachers who live in beautiful upper Michigan. They are active in their community and support the Michigan Nature Association. Her dad enjoys his yoga, biking, reading and many other things. Her mom is an artist whose talents and tastes are eclectic too, her fiber art may be viewed on the Web at Fiber Edge. Jennifer loves being an aunt to her two nieces and two nephews. She has two wonderful sisters whom she treasures, her twin Rebecca and younger sister Allison.
