Welcome to the Flute Studio of Jennifer Keeney at the University of Houston!

Jennifer Keeney's Bio

We are a supportive and happy community of Flutists! There are many unique opportunities here in my Flute Studio and in the Flute Studios at the University of Houston. There will be 16 Students in my Flute Studio in the, 2010-2011 year at the University of Houston. I have all levels- Freshman to Graduate Students, with a mix of Performance, Music Education and the Business of Music Majors. We have private lessons, studio classes, technique classes, performance and orchestral  repertoire classes each week. You will also be able to perform in 2 or 3 Studio Recitals a semester. Other opportunities to perform in school include, Studio and Master Classes, Tuesday Recitals,  Freshman & Sophomore Partner Recitals, Junior,  Senior, Masters and Doctoral Recitals. We have many guests that give Master Classes each semester with a range of topics from flute performance, teaching, breathing, alexander technique, performance anxiety, buying a new instruments, competitions, auditions, etc.  (Please see calendar for topics and guests)  As a flute student at the University of Houston, you are also welcome to attend the Master Classes of the other Flute Faculty. All students are also involved in our annual Flute Fest, March 12 th, 2011 this year. (Please see calendar for topics and guests) In our Studio you will also be creatively involved in your own education. Each semester you will have a plan that guides you as a Freshman, Masters student etc..., and an individual plan that is unique to your goals and dreams as a flutist, musician, and educator.

Students receive weekly private lessons and have a lesson partner where they attend and take notes at their lesson as well.  Each student signs up at Rehearsal Net and will be assigned an accompanist (another great opportunity here at UH) to work with at your lessons, Studio Classes and on Recitals for the semester.

We have Studio Class each week on Monday's 5:30 - 7pm, Room 118,in The Moores School of Music. You are welcome to attend, just send me an email or call 713-446-9889 to let me know. (Please see calendar for topics and guests).  We also join the with all the flutists, on Thursdays 1-2:30pm, two or three times a semester on a topic or with a special guest to build our flute knowledge and  to support our flute community here at the University of Houston, Moores School of Music. Come and visit us!
